The material for the top is from Art Gallery Fabrics - Splendor 1920 by Bari J. I fell in love with the fabric and bought it before the shipping charges from the USA to Canada increased substantially. I think this was the first time that I fell in love with fabric. I dreamed up many things I could do with this quilt, but in the end, I decided just a simple patchwork would be good. I decided to applique some of my grandmother's crochet onto the front. About a year ago my mom gave me a bunch of my grandma's crochet. She was very talented at crocheting and knitting, my grandmother that is, my mother is as well, but this was my father's mother that did the crocheting. Every time I finish a quilt, I think of my grandma, and whether she would like the quilt or not. I hope she would like this one.
This quilt is for my family and I to enjoy. It has a flannel backing and polyester fill so it's high loft and great for cuddling with.
I quilted it with random lines around the seams. The randomness of it is driving my husband insane as he is a perfectionist. I heard a quote a while ago that went something like crafters are perfectionists and artists are not... so I guess I am not a crafter, I never intended to be one, After all, it's never fun colouring only inside the lines.
