It's been a while since I posted last, but I now have something to share. Accomplishments in the crafting world have been few and far between in the summer, but I managed to finish the quilt below for an extra special Grandma. Shawn's (my husband) grandma will be turning 91 in a couple of days and his mom asked me to make a quilt for her bed in her nursing home. Grandma has Macular Degeneration, however, she seems to be able to still see colours to some extent as well she can make out things up close. I went with a pretty large pattern for the log cabin inspired blocks in hope that she would be able to see the print and it wouldn't end up just being one big blur. I got the material from Warp and Weft (one of my favourite online fabric retailers) it's from Anna Maria Horner's Pretty Potent line.
Ellie helped me with picking out where the squares went in the end, she was really proud to be a part of making Big Banma's (as she calls her) quilt. I can't wait till Ellie is old enough and I can start some sewing projects with her.
Hope everyone had a good weekend and is enjoying the summer!
