Follow my blog with Bloglovin I am in the process of getting set up on Bloglovin, it has taken me most of the morning and the evening to figure it out, but with a little trouble shooting and researching what meta description tags are and header and footer codes, etc, I am now… hopefully… figures crossed, set up.
It's taken a while to complete a project on the machine. I have a belated birthday present to give to a friend this weekend, so I thought a cute, fun, summery apron would be perfect. The back is a bright pink with polkadots. I think the lady in the fabric store, cutting the material, when I bought this material, thought I was crazy as it was so bold and vibrant. But as is evident from my fabric choices on past projects, I am generally drawn to bold colours and patterns. I love it, I hope my friend does too.
I registered for Quiltcon today... are you going? If so I would love to hear from you and make plans to meet up at the convention. I am truly excited to be going to a convention where I will meet people that share the same passion as I do for the love of creating, crafting, quilting, and of course fabric. I didn't end up getting into all the workshops I wanted to, but I will keep my fingers crossed that some of the classes will open up with more space. Right now, my top favourite that I am registered for is a Screen Printing class... I think that class is going to be a lot of fun and I am excited to learn something new.
Today was my favourite day in our house... fabric delivery day. We went for a stretch there when we were getting packages so often, but I have tried to cut down my obsession for online fabric shopping, by sticking to ordering material for custom orders only. Of course, since Warp and Weft was having a 25% off sale, I had to get a little bundle of low-volume prints for my own stash.
Now I need to get inspired with some design ideas and I will be ready to start cutting into these beautiful piles of fabric.
This fabric bundle is for a quilt for Ellie's grandmother to be used at the lake... she wanted something cute that she could cuddle Ellie in. I am sucker for packaging... hence why I go back to Warp and Weft time after time. The detail in the packaging, the exceptional service, fast/cheap delivery, and good prices (especially when on sale), make this company one of the best online Canadian retailers for fabric. I can't say enough about how much I love their products.
Here are some new low volume prints for my stash... LOVE THEM!
And lastly, fabric from Anna Maria Horner's Pretty Potent line for another order... My biggest disappointment of the day was not getting into AMH's class Drive by Colour. I realize very first world problems here... but nonetheless disappointment.
That's it for now. Happy Tuesday everyone!
I have made a lot of quilts since I started my new hobby back in the summer of 2012. Since then I think I have made over 25 quilts. I was looking through old pictures on the computer today, playing around with my trial run of Lightroom software and figured maybe it was time to post a gallery of my favourite quilts I have made thus far. I think the common theme is bold and vibrant colours. I am itching to start another quilt, this time I actually think I may follow a pattern. This is shocking for me as I tend to colour outside the lines when it comes to being creative, whether that is in the kitchen or at the sewing machine. It's probably why my venture down the path of dress-making ended so quickly and painfully.
I purchased the following pattern today. I cannot wait to buy the fabric to start this quilt. Anna Maria Horner's use of colour in this Color Dive quilt is breathtaking. I only hope I do the pattern justice.
I received a custom order for burp cloths and diaper change pads last week. I couldn't wait to get back at sewing, as I had taken a whole week long break from the machine. It was fun to create something again and I hope that the recipients of these items will love them.
It's a very dreary day, so... what better to do then sit at the sewing machine for a while tonight? I am going to have to order more supplies for the diaper change pads and burp cloths, I probably love sourcing and finding material as much as I love creating something new. In fact I have a custom quilt order coming up and I had a lot of fun finding the right material for that order.
Today was a good day, I was productive at work, and productive at home with getting this order done. I also was able to take part in my first board meeting with the Saskatchewan Craft Council. I am so proud to be a member of the board of directors. I was elected onto the board last week and I am really happy to be volunteering with an organization that is directly linked to what I am passionate about.
The change pads and burp cloths need to go in the machine for washing and then they will be shipped off to the customer who bought them. Sorry that my garage is in the picture. I was trying to think of a neat and innovative way to take a picture of these little pieces but I couldn't really find an ideal location to take the picture in the rain. Next time I think it will work better with some trees in the background.
